Reduce the Probability of COVID-19 in Your Home

We are here to help our community reduce the probability of getting infected by the COVID19 and other virus-related diseases.

COVID-19 is a deadly respiratory disease that has symptoms like chest pain, coughing, difficulty in breathing, fever, and flu. There are currently vaccines that are now available to prevent coronaviruses infection but it is still advised to take serious safety precautions and conscientious prevention to the general public.

People are asked to observe social distancing, to have at least 6 feet distance as this is considered safe from one’s droplets by sneezing, talking, or coughing. Furthermore, lockdowns, community quarantines, and stay-in-place are some of the strategies of choice against the spread of the coronavirus.

Serious safety precautions and conscientious prevention are highly recommended for every household

How to protect your family at home

Coronavirus particles are surrounded by a fatty outer layer called an envelope that appears spherical, and it has a crown or “corona” as seen under an electron microscope, hence its name.

According to the National Institute of Health “Scientists found that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 is spread by an infected person onto everyday surfaces in a household or hospital setting, through coughing or touching contaminated objects. The virus can remain on plastics and stainless steel surfaces for 2 to 3 days. It remained infectious for up to 24 hours on cardboard and 4 hours on copper. The virus was detectable in aerosols for up to 3 hours. These times will vary under real-world conditions, depending on factors including temperature, humidity, ventilation, and the amount of virus deposited”.

There are no Environmental Protection Agency or EPA -registered disinfectants that can directly kill SARS-CoV-2 BUT human coronaviruses such as COVID-19 are enveloped viruses, which are the easiest viruses to eliminate.

According to EPA & CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) “if antimicrobial products can kill a small, non-enveloped virus it should also be able to kill any enveloped virus”.

It’s best then to disinfect and sterilize your homes including the floors, furniture, carpet and upholstery, and other surfaces to prevent your family members from touching or accidentally picking up contaminated objects.
